Spalunking

October 30, 2007

Lets just say i am the type of person that might buy something on sale, just because I might need it someday to give as a gift.  Or lets say i start buy christmas presents and stocking stuffers early on so that i am not slammed with trying to fill this huge stocking.  I like to get cool little things.

I have this closet in the front hallway that i tend to put those “gifts” in.  No one ever goes there, I mean the vacum cleaner is in front of the closet door, and believe me i am the only one moving that around!

Well the other day, i see this new toy out and the boys are playing with it.  I asked where they got it, Nathaniel tells me he found it.  He was a monkey and climbed up and got it in the top of the closet.  I try and explain to him why those are there and he is not to climb up like a monkey and get them.

The twins were spalunking again in their own closet.  They found baby clothes and blankets, you know the ones you keep because they have special meaning.  Well the twins were dressing their bears with baby clothes. AGHH!

I suppose the apple does not fall from the tree.  I was the child who intentionally went looking for the xmas presents.  I would carefully take off the tape to see what it was and then retape it.  I never liked surprises. I still do not like surprises.

Now i have to be smarter than my 7 year old twins in hiding the xmas presents!  And yes i have started to buy xmas presents!  I used to be done shopping by thanksgiving!  i am not that good any more.  I am lucky to get my xmas card sent out by the middle of december if not january!!  I am trying!

A, B, C’s of me

October 27, 2007

Thanks to CuriousC over at Idea Jump for tagging me for a fun Meme (sort of). Using the letters of the alphabet, I’m supposed to let you all in on some little known factoids about moi. :) along with posting The Instructions, and then tagging a few more of you myself. So here goes.

First, the RULES:

The instructions say that each player starts with some random facts/habits about himself/herself. As you are tagged you need to post the rules and your responses on your own blog. At the end of your post, you need to choose some people to tag, list their names and, of course, leave them a comment, telling they have been tagged and they need to read your blog for more information.

Tagging others:

If you’re reading this, and you have a blog, I consider you tagged. So Mike, Anna, Elizabeth, Chelle, and Molly you are all tagged. All of the lurkers out there. Every last one of you. A challenge, you see, one that can be accepted or declined and no one would be the wiser. If you’re a reader, though, I am very curious about you. Should you accept, I’d love to see you drop a comment linking your blog so I can read your response.

Check! Alrighty then, here we go…

A – “Abigail” is the name I would love to name a little girl if i were to have one.

B- “boats” they are all around me. It makes me happy.

E- “environment” I think we all so do our part for the environment, start small, I feel since i bought my new bags I am making a small difference and not using so many plastic bags.

G- “gladiolus” They are my favorite flowers!

I- “imagination” i love the imagination of a child.

J- “Juggle” Life is a juggling act. They say people who can juggle three or more things use more of their brain. I need to learn to juggle.

U- “uncouth” coarse: lacking refinement or cultivation or taste. Yet another word I love.

V- “red Velvet cake” one of my most favorite cakes to make. Four layers of an all red cake!

W- “water” water is very emotional to me. I would spend hours at the beach growing up, watching the waves come in. i work where there is a lot of water.

October 27, 2007

Okay so the boys go off to a book fair. Now here are the differences of my boys:

Jordan saves money that he finds and uses that to buy his Pokeman book.

Nathaniel(twin a) is given money to spend, he buys an Avatar book and a Super Sticky Slimy and Stinky experiment book and a harry potter bookmark.

Raymond (twin b) is given money to spend, he buys an Avatar book (same as Nathaniel) and a pocket dictionary and a harry potter bookmark (same as Nathaniel)

Note to self, make sure kids talk before going to school book fair.

Birthdays

October 22, 2007

Well yesterday was my birthday and i have to say it was a good one! Looking back just five years ago and to see the place i was in then(going through a divorce with no money no job no friends, and three very small little boys twins were 2 and jordan was 3) and the place i am now in!(solid ground, great friends, good job, fantastic little boys) I am so much happier, who knows what the next fives years bring….hmmmm :)

My mom picked the boys up in the afternoon to do their “shopping”. My boys were so excited they made me a cake, they even picked out some presents! My mom said they picked out their own birthday cards! OH BOY THEY CAN READ! They were so excited.

Our family tradition is that you can have what ever you want for dinner and invited whomever you would like. So of course it was a lobster dinner!! Love lobster! So i invited a friend to come have dinner with my family. Such a brave friend! And a really good one!

The boys were so excited when i arrived at my parents house for dinner. Telling me where i could and could not go. Jumping around.

We all had a wonderful dinner. Jordan carried out my cake he was so proud of! I was proud! I remember making cakes for my parents, heck i still do! There is nothing better than a cake with a little love, and finger marks of children swipping the frosting!  I cannot wait for my next birthday!

The boys had me make a wish, and it was a good wish!  they all helped me blow out all of the candles! I joked so much about how old i was my grandmother actually asked “how old are you really?”

Making a splash!

October 20, 2007

cimg1304.jpg

Well it was a wonderful day. You know hosting an event to celebrate all the donors. It was a fun day to meet new people and sail. Well someone donated a new boat to the program. They all wanted me to sail it down to the North End. Oh sure, but I have a skirt on. Now this is a recipe for disaster….. Hmmm…i hesitate a bit but then hand all my electronics to Nick. Cell phone, camera, and car keys….i hop in the boat.

I set off. There is plenty of wind, there is plenty of people hanging off the CONRAD watching said events, and dyer jybes. I slip and I end up in the water.

Rescue boat comes over to pick me up. I start to laugh at them as they say, put your hand here and one leg there. I stop and say NO, I have a skirt on!!!!

So with NO GRACE, i and pulled into the rescue boat. tow boat back in and pull it up sail it down to the North end. They said they wanted the boat christened they did not specify how they wanted it done.

It was a great day. A lot of fun and a bit embarrassing. Starting this new job off with a splash!

Not so bad

October 19, 2007

So i was thinking i would show a few pictures of the boys.  You know they are really cool. As i was going through pictures i realize how far they have come.  I wonder how far they will go!  My babies are now9 and the twins are 7 years old!

twins

I love watching them grow and learn new things.  They see the world so differently, so brand new…

i was talking with a friend this week about problems…you know just that we all have them.  she told me a little story that has hit a string….

she said, imagine if you were to go in a room with a group of people, they all put their problems on the table….you would probably look around see that your problems are not so bad and you would happily take yours back.

How true that is.  So this week that is what i have thought.  my problems are really not that bad life could be a lot worse.  Look at these beautiful boys I have….

More Manly

October 17, 2007

So i put the twins to bed. they are rolling around, digging through things and they find a superman poster….

Raymond says to nathaniel, Hey we need to put this superman poster up so our room looks manly.

Oh boy, as my friend pointed out, just wait until they start putting up “other” posters….like “a superwoman” wink wink nudge nudge…..

i am so not ready!

peace out home cheese keep it real

October 16, 2007

Okay it is that time of year.  Time to go to the dentist for the boys.  I am not sure if you realized this but in a previous post, missing teeth and girls calling, i am not a tooth person.  It took me eight years to go back to the dentist just to get them cleaned.  Not like i have bad teeth but i just do not like to go.  I am that person who is shaking their feet with nerves.

Well anyway all three boys had to go, so i made the appt. so that all of them went together.  You know one shot everyone goes and we get it all over with.  Just thinking about my own nerves.  So i send a note to school explaining that i will pick them up and bring them back.

The school secretary calls  them down, saying to the teacher that yes they will be back.  So i was waiting for them in the office, around the corner they come with backpacks and all!

“ Boys!” i say, “You know you are coming back, you do not need your backpack.”

They both say “Just in case”

The puppy dog face does not work on me.  I say to them they are coming back to school.

The visit went well, everyone has healthy teeth. But they all are in line for braces!

I was snagged on the way out, they asked me if i needed to make an appt.  So she made it for me.  Ugh!  I hate going to the dentist.

I did drop the twins off, and said goodbye.  Nathaniel’s response always cracks me up.  he said,

“peace out home-cheese keep it real!”
