dont call send a text

Can we talk about cell phones for a hot second? or even phones….

I have a love hate relationship with my cell phone. for a person who has not worn a watch for over 20 years i love that it tells me the time.  I also love how easy it is to find me when my kids are in need, being a single mom that is important, i am it for these little guys (i do have my parents brother and a few friends on those call lists but i like to be the first to know).

I have always believed the phone is a convenience of the other person. I have four phones in the house and only one is turned on to ring, it is a convenience of the other person, they want something when they call. I get it. But i am very busy!  anyone can find you though if they have your cell phone number!!! your cell phone can follow you around where ever you go. Like a bad curse someone has put over you.

Now lets get it straight, friends, i do not mind you calling me on my cell. You know me, we chat, its cool. I just hate that at work my cell phone is plastered all over the place, being the camp director and running all these programs people need to get in touch with me. I am a moving target at work and being on 17 acres of land and a huge basin of water with a fleet of boats following me….

I have become a huge fan of text messaging. Why you might ask? you know why if you text. It sometimes is much easier to send a text than to call someone. it is so easy to drop a line, even my dad will text message me! that is awesome! I hate calling my dad on his cell, he is a lawyer, he is in and out of meetings, and a quick text message does the trick.

It is a sign of our technology, a sign of the times. but it seems we are really distancing ourselves from each other. what will be next?  What do you think? how do you feel about your cell phone?
